It is Purpose of Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia to widen and develop the perspective of Indonesia's growing intellectual communicty, by publishing in Bahasa Indonesia -- and other appropriate languages -- literate and socially significant works:
- that pertain to the natural and applied and sciences, and to the broad cultural philosophical, environmental, and democratic interests of Indonesian readers,
- that enhance that prospect of democracy and freedom of expression, and
- that assist in the development of an open society receptive to the wide exchange of ideas.
It is the Mission of Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia to publish works:
- drawn from respected national and international sources and authors,
- selected and collected independently by Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia and its chosen advisers,
- that have appeal and application in the influential market of university and, in time, secondary-educated graduates and opinion makers.
Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia will:
- Promote those ethical values and concepts of moral intergrity thaht are shared among all people who are deeply committed to the propagation and enyoyment of basic human rights, and
- Engage in a publishing program that enables Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia - without compromising this Purpose and Mission - to achieve its economic independence through the generation of sales and others appropriate revenues.
